WHICH TEST IS RIGHT FOR YOU?
Rapid (Antigen) Test – Provides results in 15 minutes. Requires nasal swab. This test will tell me if the virus is currently active in my system by checking for certain proteins found in the virus. Negative results could be inconclusive and a follow up PCR test may be recommended.
PCR Test – This is the most accurate testing available at this time per the CDC. Provides results in 24-72 hours. Requires nasal swab. This test will tell me if the virus is currently active in my system. This test satisfies most travel requirements. If I have been exposed recently or currently exhibiting symptoms, a PCR test is recommended. Effective 0-5 days after exposure or symptoms of coronavirus.
Antibody Test – Provides results in 24-48 hours. Requires a blood draw. This test checks for IgG Antibodies; my body’s natural response to the coronavirus. This test will tell me if I have been exposed to the coronavirus. Effective approximately 2-3 weeks after exposure to COVID-19.
